i have a leak in the gaske at the headers on my jeep i was wondering if i have to remove the intake to change the gasket on the headerWhat do i need to remove to change the exhaust header gasket?I assume you have a in-line six. Yes, the intake has to be removed. Be sure to double check the headers for cracks, and exhaust stud bolts for damage or missing. There is not enough info about your vehicle, but it does sound like a common problem with jeeps. What do i need to remove to change the exhaust header gasket?First make it easy on yourself!!!!!
I always use exaust manifold gaskets they don't burn out every year. OKAY,one side or one header first.
Remove all the bolts except the outer most one. One on each end. The two remaining bolts should be loosened so the header can be slid or spaced away from the head. Now you can remove the old gasket and all the gasket material.
Now you can drop the new gasket into place. Most header gaskets have the outer most holes slotted, if yours are not slotted, you can slot them to ease installation.
Replace and tightened all the bolts and inspect for leaks!
%26quot;BRILLIANT%26quot;!!!!What do i need to remove to change the exhaust header gasket? You would have to remove the header to get to the gasket under it.What do i need to remove to change the exhaust header gasket?no you just have to remove the header bolts and usually they have nough play in the headers to remove the gasket and put the new one in there....What do i need to remove to change the exhaust header gasket?no you don't have to remove the intake, you just need to take the header off and put a new gasket under it.
