you need to select yourself and everything you want to keep. Use the tool that selects the outline. Then after all is selected, make adjustments and corrections by zooming in, then using the selection BRUSH to add to selection. Alt brushing removes from the selection. After you're satisfied, go to the menu bar, choose select, then inverse selection. What that did was to select everything EXCEPT what you wanted to keep. Then you can use filters and special effects to change the background etc.
One thing you may want to try is after you have selected all you want to keep, click control -c to put you on your clipboard. Now, on the menu bar choose file- new- from selection on clipnoard or wording similar to that. You will now have your original pic and a new one with NO background behind you. You could also open a neat background and paste your clipboard pic of you onto it. Good luck and have fun experimenting. How can i remove/ change the background in my photo? I don't know how to do it in adobe photoshop.pls help..I'm not sure but i think you have to click on the wand button - if your backround is a different colour/ white than it will easier to :
