Can physical assault change/remove the time limit on suing for full custody in MA?

If there was a reported incident of a father physically assaulting a mother when both parents had full custody of their children, would this give the mother any advantage in being able to gain full custody of the children in court? Even if the divorce was recent and the time limit on suing for custody had not yet expired?

This hasn't happened, jsyk, I'm just curious! Can physical assault change/remove the time limit on suing for full custody in MA?It will definitely affect custody. What court is going to grant even partial custody to someone who is shown to be physically violent?
