Is there a way to remove the ability for other administrator users to change passwords?

My son has administrator rights in order to install games. But, I don't like the fact that he is able to change my password without entering the current password.

Is there a way to disable this option?

Thanks in advance! Is there a way to remove the ability for other administrator users to change passwords? No. You can't, and if it is his computer, you shouldn't tamper with it. Admins have to be able to do everything, they control the entire damn computer. Is there a way to remove the ability for other administrator users to change passwords?Create a standard account and optionally set up parental controls (XP, Vista, Windows 7). Ask your son to move all of his stuff over to the new standard account folders (My music, My documents, etc.) and then you proceed to delete his admin account. Make sure there are no other suspicious accounts other than yours and his (don't worry about the default Guest account)

A person working with a standard account is allowed to do only standard tasks, so you may not even need parental controls:

Standard tasks:

* Run applications that are already set up on a computer, including those located on key drives. - This means that you either install the games yourself or he has to request your password every time he tries to install anything.

* Use hardware that is already installed on the PC.

* Create, use, and view documents, sounds, and pictures in the Documents/Pictures/Music folders and also in the computer檚 Public.

* If a computer is part of a HomeGroup, a standard user may also create, use, and view any files located in the Public folders from computers that are connected to that HomeGroup. Users with standard account can also access all shared folders on other computers located in the same HomeGroup.

* Change his\her password or decide to disable password for his\her account- Can not alter anyone else's password.

* Change the photograph that appears next to his/her name on the log-on screen and also the Start menu, edit the desktop background, resize the Windows resolution and toolbar, add items to the toolbar and Start menu, and any small changes that have no effects on other user accounts.

If you are a standard user, you are not even allowed to edit the Date and Time Properties on the tray. So, it檚 pretty much limited. Is there a way to remove the ability for other administrator users to change passwords?BE A PARENT.

Change your son to SUPER-USER with ability to install programs, NOT control parents' ability. Is there a way to remove the ability for other administrator users to change passwords? Why not give him access to a Power User account and take away his Administrator access?

From an admin account, right-click on My Computer and choose Manage.

Under System Tools, look for Local Users and Groups. Under there, look for Users. Click on Users.

From the tool menu, choose Action --%26gt; New user (or right-click in an empty area of the right pane and choose New user).

Type in the details and then click Create. (Don't forget what the password is!)

Now click on Groups (just under Users).

Find Power Users in the right-hand pane and double-click it.

Click on Add and then type the name of the newly created user into the text box where the cursor is flashing. Click OK.

Those are the instructions for XP Pro and I think will work on XP Home and also Vista Business, maybe all Vista versions.

Now just remove his admin access or change the password for the admin account so he no longer knows it. Tell him the Power User name and password and tell him that's what he is to use for installing in future.

Mind you, I like the answers which say remove his computer access. :-D I know though, that won't always be effective in some situations so this is what you can do if you need it. Just don't forget that with multiple users accounts being available, you probably now have a Safe Mode administrator and you will need to get into that and password protect it as well. If you need help getting into Safe Mode, I've just explained it for someone here:

It's one thing to let them play and install games but when the start changing your info it's time to get tough.

I had similar situation with my eldest daughter, two week with no WOW straightened that out real quick. Is there a way to remove the ability for other administrator users to change passwords?yOUR SON? AND YOU'RE SUPPOSE TO BE A PARENT?

JUST TAKE HIS COMPUTER AWAYIs there a way to remove the ability for other administrator users to change passwords?Yes. Just log in as administrator, and go to control panel %26lt; user accounts and edit the permissions..

If your son hasnt told you the password then take the pc when he is using it and threaten to delete all the games if he doesn't tell the password. When he tells the password then immediately change it to something difficult to guess. like this: example: password

Just insert symbols instead of the letters. like for password type:

p@$$w0rd.

Thats is difficult to guess. Hope I helped
