Log in to an administrator account and change the password.



If you mean - you have only account on the computer and the password is not known/changed and you want to reset password, you can try logging in safemode Windows (sometimes a blank password is given to the 'Administrator') and then do your thing.

There are some utilities available on the net that can unlock a user account, search and try.

type in the following



net user (username) (password)



replace the username and the password with the correct things eg

The command completed successfully.

If you dont have admin privs then you cant do it without reformatting the computer. In some cases is ok because the hdd with the all the files on it is either partitioned to have a small section for the operating system and a different section for the files, or is a whole different hdd then that of the operating system so you only lose the programs that you had not the whole hdd's files.How do you remove or change a password on vista and XP without knowing the current password? Click OK



A User control screen will come up - you can use this reset any password without knowing the previous one.
